The Sacramento Kings were very unsure of their basketball future. More than once this fan base has heard that they will be losing the team to another market and for the first time since the Maloofs revealed themselves as incompetent owners, Kings fans honestly thought that their team was heading to — of all places– Seattle.

But the NBA Gods were on their side and when Kings fans rallied to save their team, they got exactly what they wanted. Now their attention turns to the NBA Draft and building to make sure they don’t waste the gift they got when they heard their team was not ging to play basketball anywhere but Sacramento.

So with the seventh overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings selected Ben McLemore from Kansas.

The Kings are a team that has talent but just need to learn how to make it all fit together. That’s exactly why they took a guy like McLemore as he adds both youth and talent to the roster as well as being a guy fans can get excited about.

There is talk of bringing in Monta Ellis in free agency, DeMarcus Cousins seems to finally be getting his head on straight and the Kings are under new management they hope can take them to the next level. McLemore is a guy that will fit right into what the Kings have and will be someone fans can get excited about right away.

Let’s just hope he lasts longer than the last Kansas player the Kings took in the first round.
