The Houston Rockets might have been given a leg up in the Dwight Howards sweepstakes. On July 1st, teams can officially start contacting free agents. Dwight Howard has said he’ll be visiting with the Atlanta Hawks, the Dallas Mavericks and the Houston Rockets as well as his most recent team the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to Rotoword, the Houston Rockets will be the first team Dwight visits. Houston is sending a contingent to meet with Dwight Howard as well.

According to ESPN:

"“The Rockets plan to send general manager Daryl Morey, coach Kevin McHale, owner Les Alexander, Olajuwon and current Rockets James Harden and Chandler Parsons to recruit Howard, the source said.”"

Chandler Parsons has been texting Dwight on a regular basis pleading the Rocket’s case. They’ve also brought in legendary center Hakeem Olajuwon to help persuade Dwight to sign with Houston. Players, including LeBron James, have been paying Olajuwon $50,000 per week for instruction.

His presence and availability to coach Dwight could be the icing on the cake that Dwight Howard needs to sign with Houston. Getting one on one coaching with a legendary center might be appealing to Howard as he looks to establish himself as one of the best centers in league history.
