Jay Z signed NBA superstar and Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Duran to his Roc Nation Sports group. Many fans in the small market of Oklahoma City are worried that this is the beginning of the end of the Kevin Durant era in Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma City told the fans via The Oklahoman not to worry.

“He has nothing to do with if I’m going to leave OKC or none of that,” Durant told the newspaper. “I heard that before, so put that out on the table. He has nothing to do with that. He knows his lane with me. Their team knows their lane with me. And they’re letting me handle the basketball part. I would tell fans not to worry about that at all.”

He also reiterated his commitment to OKC on Sportscenter.

“It just seemed like a perfect move to me, something that there’s no risk in doing,” Durant told ESPN.com’s Darren Rovell in a “SportsCenter” interview. “Jay-Z is someone who is a guy who is well-respected in the business area, a guy that has done so well for himself and his brand. I’m looking forward to partnering with him and learning as much as I can from him.

Sources told ESPN that Durant doesn’t ned a contract agent having signed a $85 million extension with the Thunder already. That deal will keep him in OKC till the summer of 2016.

The Jay Z deal was more likely to help Durant expand his brand.
