The Los Angeles Clippers and the Orlando Magic have been discussing a trade that would send Arron Afflalo to the Clippers and Eric Bledsoe together with Caron Butler to the Magic. However, that offer seems off the table now, as the Clippers have withdrawn interest.

The deal did make sense in a lot of ways initially. The Magic would have loved to have Bledsoe, as it would have allowed the team to trade Jameer Nelson and add another great young prospect to its core. On the flipside, the Clippers would have filled a major vacancy at the two-guard spot with a player that is a good defender, and can also be effective on offense, both on and off the ball.

Instead, it seems that the Clippers will be looking to lure Tony Allen to the team. While it could seem like a bit of a long shot, it could also be possible. A lot of players want to play for Doc Rivers and Allen already has experience of playing under Doc.

It’s quite likely that the deal between the Clippers and the Magic eventually fell apart because Rivers has said that he wants to coach Bledsoe, so it’s quite likely that the coveted young point guard will stay put this summer.
