There have been a lot of rumors floating around the NBA universe in the last 48 hours and one of the more out of the blue rumors involved Rajon Rondo being traded from the Boston Celtics to the Dallas Mavericks for Dirk Nowtizki. But not only did a report surface on Monday that Danny Ainge’s request for Nowitzki was his way of saying he’s not trading Rondo to Dallas, The Sporting News is reporting that Rondo doesn’t want to be traded out of Boston.

Per Sean Deveney:

"A source told Sporting News on Monday that, while Ainge gets calls on Rondo regularly, he has no intention of trading him, but rather, wants to see how Rondo operates as the team leader without Pierce and Garnett around. As one opposing general manager put it, “I don’t think Danny has made a single call about Rondo. He has gotten calls. But it would be wrong to say he has considered shopping him.”"

There were rumblings around NBA circles that in the aftermath of the blockbuster deal that sent Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Brooklyn Nets, Rajon Rondo might not have wanted to be part of the rebuilding process. But the rebuilding process is being tailored to revolve around Rondo and trading him would seem counter intuitive.

But Celtics fans need not fear about losing Rondo as it appears it’s not even being discussed in Boston by anyone.
