The Dallas Mavericks were very active on draft night moving all over the place to try and save cap space to make a run at Dwight Howard in free agency this summer. They moved down and acquired Miami Hurricanes point guard Shane Larkin.
In a teleconference Shane Larkin talked about Dwight Howard to the Mavs, rooting for the Mavs against the Heat in 2011 and wanting to play along side. Larkin is an Orlando native and said that Dallas was one of the places he really wanted to land.
@ShaneLarkin: "Dallas was one of the places that I really wanted to be." He was down after a sub-par workout.

Larkin though has been the subject of trade rumors and could be shipped out of town before he ever plays for Dallas.
@ShaneLarkin: "At the end of the day, I hope to be in a Dallas Mavericks jersey and playing with Dirk and whoever else."

Larkin says he knows "the NBA is a business" and he could be dealt before playing one game as a Mav, but he hopes to stay in Dallas.

He also is excited about the prospect of playing along side Dwight Howard.
.@ShaneLarkin also says he hopes to be in the pick-and-roll with Dwight Howard one day. Great sales pitch, young man.

If the Mavs do sign or acquire a more veteran point guard, Larkin is alright with learning.
.@ShaneLarkin: "I'm a competitor at heart and I like to compete. ... I'm gonna go (into training camp) and compete for the starting spot."

.@ShaneLarkin: "At the end of the day, (a veteran mentor) is just going to help me be a better pro and I just want to be the best I can be."
