Watching the Aaron Hernandez arraignment I was taken back with the amount of detail and technology that went into putting him at the scene of the crime. We see it every day on Law & Order spinoffs and CSI series. Triangulation of cellphone signals off towers, surveillance video from unlikely places.

But sometimes it isn’t necessary.

Indianapolis Colts defensive back Joe Lefeged was arrested for allegedly illegal possession of .40 caliber hand gun. We saw the prosecution in the Hernandez case use a video of him buying bubble gum and the gum being next to shell casings as evidence. For Lefeged, according to USA TODAY, the receipt of purchase for the gun was in the car, with him… and the gun.

Lefeged is being held without bail pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for this morning. It’ll be rough on him since the driver of the car and Lefeged fled.

The driver got away and Lefeged was caught and arrested. Which begs to ask, how did an NFL player get run down by police officers?
