The Dallas Cowboys haven’t released Josh Brent and kept him on the roster. Recently Brent was put back in jail for violating the terms of his bound with a positive drug test from marijuana. Brent is still in jail pending a July 19th hearing on whether he will be released pending trial.

The trial has been moved from September 23rd to November.

The District Attorney Craig Watkins went on 105.3 The Fan and talked about the case. Now Brent’s lawyer, George Milner, is now seeking a gag order to prevent the prosecutor from talking about the case.

According to Pro Football Talk:

"According to 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, George Milner plans to file a request on Wednesday to prevent District Attorney Craig Watkins from talking about Brent.  Milner believes Watkins recent comments to 105.3 The Fan, which include Watkins explaining that he believes Brent should be incarcerated, cross the line."

The Dallas Cowboys still haven’t indicated what they plan to do with Josh Brent and his roster spot. When the Patriots released Aaron Hernandez immediately following his arrest the Cowboys drew fire for how they’ve handled Brent.
