Chicago Bulls superstar point guard Derrick Rose took a lot of slack last postseason when he chose to play it safe and sit out while his team was ousted in the NBA playoffs.

Rose was not ready to play after tearing his ACL. Some fans were adamant Rose should have given his all for the team considering the finances invested in his services. Others understood the decision and were more concerned about his long-term health, as we well as the long-term fortunes of the franchise.

For the most part Rose has done a good job about not speaking publicly about his decision to sit out.

Until now.

Rose was interviewed by NBA.com recently and said his body simply was not ready (h/t Rotoworld):

"“I wasn’t able to take on a double-team yet … I was pushing myself every day … but it didn’t happen.”"

Rose was also short and sweet to the point—his goal next year is a championship:

"“There’s only one goal [for the season] and that’s to win a championship”"

There’s nothing that revealing in the quotes here. If Rose felt like he couldn’t go, then he couldn’t go. The obvious goal next year will be to win it all, especially with a healthy Rose who has taken the full amount of time to recover properly.
