Golden State Warriors Considered ‘A Factor’ in Race For Dwight Howard
By Josh Sanchez
Free agent center Dwight Howard is the big prize on the open market and there are a number of teams fighting for his services. Howard has met with the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks and Golden State Warriors, but it appears that three teams are emerging as the serious threats to steal Howard away from the Lakers on July 10.
We all know that the Rockets and Mavericks have been strongly linked to Howard, but it looks like the Warriors could swoop in at the last minute and complete a move that no one would have seen coming.
From Marc Stein of ESPN.com:
Considering all of the chatter that was surrounding Howard entering free agency, it would be a bit of a curveball to see him ink a deal with the Warriors. Of course, crazier things have happened.
The Mavericks and Rockets appear to still lead the pack in the race for Howard, but it looks like Golden State is a much bigger player than we had originally thought.
Free agency kicked off just after midnight on Monday, so be sure to stay tuned to FanSided.com throughout the free agency period as we keep you up to date with the latest news and rumors from around the league.
