Report: Atlanta Hawks and Others to Tank for Andrew Wiggins

Andrew Wiggins is a superstar already and is sure to be one of the top picks in the upcoming NBA draft. He’s such a rare talent that as many as seven teams may be willing to tank the next NBA season away in order to land a chance to enter the lottery and draft him.

The first report of teams flopping comes from ESPN’s Chad Ford via Twitter, who lists the Suns, Bobcats, 76ers, Celtics and Magic along with the Hawks as tank candidates:

Rotoworld says it is not a surprise any of these teams might flop for the rare talent known as Wiggins:

"It’s pretty clear that the Suns, Bobcats, 76ers, Celtics and Magic should all be pretty brutal, while the Hawks (if they don’t get Dwight Howard) and Raptors (if they send Rudy Gay’s contract to Detroit) will also be pretty bad, and we’ll add the Bucks to the mix. We also know that 14 teams will be in the lottery and in addition to Wiggins, next year’s draft should be one of the best in recent memory."

It could be an ugly NBA season next year if the reports of tanking are to be believed. That’s a lot of teams willing to have a horrible record and upset fanbase just to earn the chance to draft Wiggins.
