The Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Minnesota Vikings in the International Series. But Roetlisberger says that the team is handling their trip to London as a business trip with the focus and emphasis on the game, not the city. He wishes they could have more time to enjoy the city, but with a late arrival they need to prepare for the game and recover from the jet lag.

“We don’t really know what to expect, I’ll talk to the guys when I go back,” Roethlisberger said, via 7msports.com. “It’s really a level of uncertainty, guys are excited about coming over because it’s a new place to play. Obviously we know how long the trip is and getting here late in the week. The most important thing is we call it a business trip, we’re here to play the game and win the game. It’s unfortunate we don’t get to come over for longer and enjoy the beautiful city but for us it’s about coming over, playing the game and winning.”

The game is set for September 29th in Wembley Stadium. The UEFA Champions League Finals, soccer’s Super Bowl, was recently held in Wembley Stadium in London as well.

Big Ben is happy to be an ambassador for the NFL in the city where his nickname comes from. Funny that the NFL would send Roethlisberger to be an ambassador for the sport given his off the field track record.

“That’s great because I want to be an ambassador for the sport and for the Pittsburgh Steelers, any time we can bring a game over here and see fans – because obviously we know how big soccer is over here and we’re not obviously going to take over how big that sport is here – but just to grow the fanbase and come over here and play and see the excitement in some of the London people and in the UK about about big football can be over here.”
