The New England Patriots allowed their fans to come in and swap Aaron Hernandez jerseys for free. The final number of jerseys swapped?

2,500.

Robert Kraft addressed the media for the first time Monday and talked about various things surrounding the Aaron Hernandez situation including the success of the program.

According to the Boston Globe:

"“It was principle, over money or cap or anything else,” Kraft said.Principle is also why the Patriots were willing to take a $250,000 hit over the weekend when nearly 2,000 fans exchanged their Hernandez jerseys for another player’s at the Patriots ProShop. Kraft said the team plans to destroy the jerseys by grinding them up and donating the material for recycling purposes."

According to reports, the top five replacement jerseys were Vince Wilfork, Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Chandler Jones and Stevan Ridley.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft also said that if Aaron Hernandez is convicted and found guilty than the entire Patriots organization was ‘duped.’ EA Sports also removed Aaron Hernandez from their NCAA Football franchise as well as Madden.
