It’s been a woeful few years for Hedo Turkoglu who has completely fallen out of favor with the Orlando Magic.

In a complete youth movement, the Magic want to create all the available floor time they can for their youngsters and the last thing they want is an unhappy veteran clamoring for playing time, which is their concern with Turkoglu.

According to Yahoo Sports, the two sides are working on a buyout that will get Hedo out of a rebuilding project while saving the Magic some much needed money.

Per Wojo:

"The Orlando Magic and Hedo Turkoglu are progressing on contract buyout talks, league sources tell Y! Sports."

Turkoglu has a $12 million dollar contract for the upcoming season, however, it includes a buyout of $6 million dollars. There’s been no word if the buyout will be as simple going through paperwork or if the Magic are actually trying to lower the contractually agreed upon buyout in the contract.

In addition to paying Turkoglu, the Magic are also still paying former player Gilbert Arenas, who will be the third highest paid player in the league this year despite not playing in the NBA for over a year.

Needless to say, any penny they can save, they’re looking into it.
