Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is already close to $100 million dollars in career earnings. However, despite signing a 3 year $53 million dollar deal, he isn’t close to a mega-contract like Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Joe Flacco or Aaron Rodgers. The top tier of quarterbacks make close to $20 million a year, Stafford’s extension pays him $15 million a season over the next 5 years.
What’s the difference between them and Stafford?
“Super Bowl ring. That’s what those guys have,” Stafford said Wednesday, via the Detroit Free Press. “League MVP, Super Bowl rings, years of experience doing it.”
Stafford will make about $15M a year over the next 5, the top tier of QBs (Manning, Rodgers, Brees, etc) makes about $20M.
