The Seattle Mariners have a reliever in Oliver Perez who is seeing his name absolutely light up the MLB trade rumors market right now as he turns his career around.

Apparently a plethora of teams are calling the Mariners about Perez’s availablity, but the it sounds as if the Atlanta Braves and Baltimore Orioles are in the lead.

The report comes from CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman:

"Kendrys Morales, Raul Ibanez and Oliver Perez — who has drawn interest from the Orioles, Braves and others — are the most obvious and valuable veteran trade targets.“We’ll see how this week goes. I’m not going to be the aggressor,” Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik said by phone a couple days ago. “I’m not shopping anyone.”"

Perez has turned things around with Seattle after posting a 1.89 ERA and 46 strikeouts to this point. The interest the Mariners have been receiving in Raul Ibanez is old news, but Perez’s name is just starting to heat up.

At this point it is hard to tell if the Mariners will part with Perez. It’s a move that could make the team spiral into a free fall if they are not careful, but at the same time it could reap some outstanding benefits and his value may never be higher.

Seattle is going to have to make some tough decisions here before the deadline.
