Now he might be a little biased but former Packers center Frank Winters said that he believes Brett Favre is a top 5 player all-time in NFL history. Winters was speaking at a banquet in Wisconsin.

“In my opinion, he was probably one of the top five players to ever play the game,” Winters said, per the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “He was a special person, special individual, and hopefully they can get this thing worked out here in the upcoming months and get him back to Green Bay where he deserves to go into the Hall of Fame and to the NFL Hall of Fame.”

Winters played with the Packers from 1992 to 2002 and spent a lot of time with his career. There has been some ill will towards Brett Favre in Wisconsin after he left and worked his way to their rival team, the Minnesota Vikings. But a report came out earlier that said the Packers were considering retiring his number soon.

“You hear a lot of news about it in the paper — Mark Murphy and Brett’s people talking and stuff like that,” Winters said.

“You know, like they say, time heals all wounds. Hopefully, they get it worked out here in the upcoming months. I don’t know if it will happen this year, but it should happen in the near future. I think they’ll get it done and I think it will be beneficial for everybody.”
