It’s no secret that the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys don’t like each other. Even retired players can’t miss an opportunity to take a stab at their rival. Most recently, former Redskins corner back Fred Smoot.

Via CBS DFW:

"In a recent podcast with Guest House Radio, the former player had the following to say about Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith.“Nobody that meets Emmitt Smith likes Emmitt Smith. Have you heard anybody say’ Hey man, I met Emmitt Smith and I really love him’? Nobody likes Emmitt Smith. I don’t know if he’s just a jerk ’cause he’s a Cowboy. I don’t know. He be rubbing people the wrong way.”"

It’s important to remember that Smoot has zero Pro Bowl appearances and 21 career interceptions. Emmitt on the other hand is a Hall of Famer who set the NFL record for rushing yards in a career.

But I bet I know one person who likes Emmitt Smith, Daryl Johnston. And how could you not like Emmitt for running to the side line and hugging Daryl “Moose” Johnson after breaking the record.

And tearing up while he thanked “Moose” for his sacrifices during his Hall of Fame speech.

“We hate Dallas,” Smoot said once. “We hate Dallas. It’s just been like that, and it’s always gonna be like that. I got family members that love Dallas so I don’t even talk to them during the week. That’s just what it is. I literally don’t talk to them….You know, I was in that Mississippi [State]-Ole Miss hatred battle, and once I got here and Darrell Green kind of sat me down and said look here, this is how it is, this is your Ole Miss now. And I kind of bought into it….I can be around the players off the field and stuff, but when it’s time, it’s time. Usually I’m one of the guys that come out early before the game to talk to players that I know off the other team. I never do that against Dallas. Ever. Never.”
