A report out of Carson City, Nevada, today said that former Buffalo Bills running back

OJ Simpson will be granted a parole hearing later this month. Simpsons was convicted of 12 criminal counts and sentenced to serve up to 33 years behind bars after his involvement in a 2007 armed robbery of two sports collectibles dealers.

The 66-year-old Simpson, even if granted parole for the kidnapping conviction, would not be entirely free. Because he was given multiple sentences required to be served consecutively, he would still have to finish his time/be paroled for some charges before even beginning to serve the other sentences.

There is also a chance that Simpson may receive a new trial as well. Back in May, Simpson’s lawyers argues that their client’s previous defense team was inadequate. citing sabotage on the part of lawyer Yale Galanter. District Judge Linda Marie Bell has not yet decided on of Simpson will receive a new trial, but if she rules against him, Simpson will have to appeal to a higher court.

Simpson, one of the most dominate running backs in the history of football, is of course also famous for his role as the Nordberg in The Naked Gun and for sharing a name with a great hip hop album.
