The Arizona Cardinals have been plagued by inconsistency at the quarterback position since Kurt Warner called it a career, but with the offseason acquisition of Carson Palmer, the team finally has some confidence that they will be able to take the division now that they have a “real quarterback” running the show.

Defensive lineman Calais Campbell spoke about the boost Arizona will get with Palmer under center and he seems ready for the season to begin.

“I think it’s very likely we can win the division, yes,” Campbell said, via CBSSports.com’s Mike Freeman. “I respect every opponent in our division. Every one. But I think of it this way. We were able to hang in a bunch of our division games without a real quarterback.

“I don’t want to disrespect anyone but now we have a real quarterback to go with a good defense. When we play with a lead, we’re hard to beat. This is the first time in years that we have an offense that matches our defense.”

Despite how confident the Cardinals may be, it is hard to imagine a scenario where the Cardinals would be able to surpass both the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks to take the NFC West. In fact, you could probably put those chances at around zero percent.

However, it has to be promising for the Cardinals and their fans that there is a growing belief among the locker room that they are making some serious improvement.
