Bernard Pollard joined the Tennessee Titans in free agency just a few months ago, but it didn’t take long for him to fall in love with his new teammates and buy in to the message that his new team was selling. Pollard spoke with the Journal Gazette about his new team, and he had some very positive things to say.

In fact, Pollard went as far as to say that he believes the Titans can be dominant this season.

We got a very athletic team,” Pollard said. “We can be dominant, but it’s about buying into what the coaches are selling, and I tell a lot of people that. We gotta be professionals. I don’t care how old you are on this team.”

Pollard left a team that won the Super Bowl a season ago and had one of the best motivators in NFL history on their roster. As he prepares to take the field in Tennessee, he hopes to bring some of that leadership with him to this younger team.

“Everybody did what they had to do as far as leading on the field, leading off the field, speaking up. All 53 guys did,” Pollard said. “That’s the same thing I’m doing in Tennessee. I’m like, ‘Look. It’s not about one guy. It’s about all of us, because that’s what it’s gonna take in order for us to be playing in January and February.’”

While not many people, if any, are picking the Titans to be a surprise team in 2013, the team could surprise the league if Pollard’s confidence and belief in the team becomes contagious in the locker room.

Every year a surprise team pops out of nowhere, so perhaps this could be the Titans turn.

However, if they want to make some serious noise in the NFL this season, they will need quarterback Jake Locker to step up in a big way.
