Greg Oden is still a free agent and is considered a low-risk high-reward type of an option at the moment. Many teams are interested in the former No. 1 overall pick’s services and Oden will be meeting with the Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans in Las Vegas this weekend.

"Free-agent center Greg Oden will be in Las Vegas this week for face-to-face meetings with officials from the Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans, according to sources with knowledge of Oden’s plans. The sitdown with Mavericks officials, sources said, is scheduled for later Monday, as Dallas pushes to join the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat at the forefront of the race to resurrect the career of 2007’s No. 1 overall pick.(via ESPN)"

The Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs seem to be the front-runners, but that won’t stop teams from having a talk with Oden to see what his demands are. Miami is understandably an attractive option, as Oden will not have any pressure to perform right away, but would get a chance to win a championship and increase his market value.

Oden is in a similar position as Andrew Bynum was this summer, and will have to look for a short-term contract in order to prove that he can stay healthy. Ultimately, his decision might come down to where he feels he can have the best opportunity to showcase his talent in order to assert himself in the league.
