There wasn’t much hope that the Cincinnati Bengals and defensive end Michael Johnson would agree to a deal before today’s deadline for teams to reach a long-term deal with players under the franchise tag, and it is now official that no deal has been agreed one. Albert Breer of the NFL Network made the report official.

Without a deal, Johnson will play out the 2013-14 NFL season under his one-year, $11.175 million tender.

After the season, Johnson will become an unrestricted free agent where he will look to cash in on the big deal that he missed the boat on this offseason.

With another strong performance, it is hard to imagine Johnson making it off of the free agent market without a big money deal.
