If the New England Patriots are tired of being asked about Aaron Hernandez, the San Francisco 49ers have to be tired of being asked about Colin Kaepernick’s hat. But they keep answering and talking about it

For those who don’t know Kapernick was spotted wearing a Miami Dolphins hat, fans grumbled. He put a defiant picture on Instagram calling the fans out for being sensitive. They grumbled louder, Kaepernick apologized and posted a Instagram pick in red and gold and a 49ers hat.

NaVorro Bowman commented on the hat Tuesday, and now 49ers teammate Aldon Smith commented on the hat Wednesday on ESPN’s First Take.

Aldon Smith said  “let’s not make this a bigger issue than it has to be.”

“He’s not in the game, he’s not throwing up Miami Dolphins signs,” Smith said. “He plays for us, he plays hard for us.”

“He can wear a Chicago Bears shirt, it’s fine,” Smith added. “As long as he’s dedicated to what he does and he does a great job on the field and he’s dedicated to his team and he’s a leader for us, that’s all that matters.”

“When Colin rushes for 1,500 yards, it doesn’t matter,” Smith said. “He can wear the team that he ran the yards on. Let him have fun.”
