ESPN’s Buster Olney is reporting that the Chicago Cubs are telling teams around the league who are interested in Matt Garza, to make their ‘last and best offers’.

Garza could be traded by the time he makes his next start, which is Monday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Olney also hears that the Rangers, Cardinals, Blue Jays, Pirates, Indians and Dodgers are in the mix of teams who are looking to acquire the 29 year old right handed pitcher.

This whole thing with Matt Garza is exhausting. First there were talks of a possible extension, that he could be the pitcher they could build around for the future. Now that he’s posting the numbers he has, his trade value shot pretty high since coming off of his injury.

The Chicago Cubs are always sellers when it comes to the trade deadline, as a Cubs fan, it’s frustrating to see all these players leave, but interesting to see what we get for them. Our pitching rotation has been shaky this season but has had its moments.

One thing that needs to be focused on is the bullpen, so if the Cubs do in fact deal Matt Garza, they could be looking at getting a few relief pitchers in return.
