Nnamdi Asomugha Could Be On San Francisco 49ers Roster Bubble

With the trade acquisition of Eric Wright on Friday, veteran cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha could find himself on the roster bubble heading in to training camp. Wright and Asomugha both play the right cornerback position and Asomugha’s contract includes no guaranteed money.

The report comes from CSN Bay Area:

After getting released, the 49ers signed him to a one-year, $1.325 million contract with no guaranteed money. He has to make the team to get paid. “It remains to be seen how well he can cover,” Fangio said last month.

The former All-Pro was once considered one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL when he was with the Oakland Raiders, but a poor fit in the Philadelphia Eagles scheme caused a serious drop off in production and performance.

For Asomugha, getting cut before the start of the season would be a tough pill to swallow, but you could expect the veteran to generate plenty of information if he becomes available.

Do you think Asomugha will make the 49ers 53-man roster? Sound off in the comments section.

Of course he makes the roster. Carlos is on the bubble not Nnamdi.

Neither Asomugha or Wright is guaranteed any money unless they make the team. Both of them have Bay Area ties, I’m hoping that this brings out the best in both DB’s.

Right now the 49ers have 5 players in the secondary that are currently fighting to make the team and extend their careers from 2- 3 years. Whitner, Dahl, Asomugha, Brown, Rogers. For some players on the roster if they don’t make the team their careers are pretty much over, for those that will make the team, they will need to perform or they will not be with the team very long. So far I would say that the 49ers have only 2 keepers for their future secondary and they are Reid and Culliver. The 49ers need to improve their secondary through the draft and free agency next year, they have not had a decent secondary in decades. 2 years from now even Ed Donatell (secondary coach ) in all likelihood will be gone, He is the one assistant coach whose unit has not improved in the 2 years with the 49ers . Currently the 49ers have 4 players that were drafted in the 1st rounds in their secondary Asomugha, Whitner, Rogers, Reid.

Do you think Nnamba will get Cut from the Roster,Whats Your Opinion on that,Do you think he Should Start over Wright, who is Better.
