With the trade acquisition of Eric Wright on Friday, veteran cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha could find himself on the roster bubble heading in to training camp. Wright and Asomugha both play the right cornerback position and Asomugha’s contract includes no guaranteed money.

The report comes from CSN Bay Area:

"After getting released, the 49ers signed him to a one-year, $1.325 million contract with no guaranteed money. He has to make the team to get paid. “It remains to be seen how well he can cover,” Fangio said last month."

The former All-Pro was once considered one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL when he was with the Oakland Raiders, but a poor fit in the Philadelphia Eagles scheme caused a serious drop off in production and performance.

For Asomugha, getting cut before the start of the season would be a tough pill to swallow, but you could expect the veteran to generate plenty of information if he becomes available.
