Kyrie Irving ‘nearly a lock’ for Team USA
Kyrie Irving is currently playing with other young Team USA candidates in Vegas, where the national team is holding a minicamp to take a look at some of the available players for the 2014 FIBA World Cup. And it seems that Irving is just about guaranteed a roster spot for the competition.
"As for this week’s minicamp, a Team USA source, speaking on condition of anonymity because no official announcements have been made yet, said Irving is nearly a lock to be part of the 2014 FIBA World Cup team that will compete in Spain next summer.(via Akron Beacon Journal)"
It’s uncertain whether all the top NBA superstars will be playing for the team next year, as the Olympics is generally the competition that truly brings together the best team possible.
In just two years of being an NBA player, Irving has been rising to stardom and has become a fan favorite around the league, thanks to his exceptional ball-handling abilities and quick moves.
The point guard position is very stacked right now, and some other point guards that are working out at the camp include Damian Lillard, Jrue Holiday and John Wall.
