Jeff Demps has plans to try and make the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but with his focus on track and field, it’s already made an impact on his potential future with the team.

The Buccaneers placed Demps on the reserve/did not report list on Wednesday. It’s a move that was expected since Demps accepted an invitation to play in the IAAF World Championships in August.

More from the Associated Press report:

"Demps was obtained from New England in a trade that sent running back LeGarrette Blount to the Patriots in April. The former Florida running back was a silver medalist as part of the United States’ 400 relay team at the 2012 London Games."

The event lasts until August 18th, which is the same day that Demps could take part in the men’s 4×100 meter relay final takes place.

The running back/Olympic sprinter wasn’t drafted when eligible in 2012, but was picked up by the New England Patriots.

While the Buccaneers will likely give Demps a shot when he comes back, it would be hard to imagine him catching up with all the other players and making the team.
