The Miami Heat have been quiet so far this offseason, which is about what you would expect for a team coming off a championship. Still, it was only a matter of time before the Heat popped up in NBA rumors concerning free agency.
Oh, and rumors now involving LeBron James leaving for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Instead we get this nugget of info, which states the Heat have interest in bringing on one of LeBron’s former teammates, Mo Williams. Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld has the report:
"Mo Williams is another free agent drawing interest from Miami. The veteran point guard hasn’t received the kinds of offers he expected to get this summer. Since he hasn’t been able to land a high-dollar, multi-year deal, Williams may decide to take a significant pay cut from his 2012-13 salary of $8.5 million to sign with a contender, according to sources. If he decides to go this route, Miami will be one of the teams that he considers given that they’re the favorites to win it all next year and Williams obviously has history with LeBron James dating back to their Cleveland Cavaliers days."
Shocking, right? Williams still has plenty left to offer and it’s obvious he is a name that would give up money in order to win a championship.
The Heat are obvious favorites to win it all again next season. How Williams would fit in is hard to tell, but his recent outings with LeBron have been nothing but solid.
It can’t hurt, right?
