Twitter has become quite the resource for news. Players have learned of their release on Twitter. Players have learned of a trade on Twitter. Players have found out about suspensions on Twitter. But what San Francisco 49ers cornerback Tarell Brown found on Twitter today might take the cake.

Earlier this morning, it was reported that Brown had his $2 million dollar base salary stripped by the San Francisco 49ers after he failed to show up at the Niners practice facility in Santa Clara. The workout was deemed ‘voluntary’ but that’s nothing more than word crafting. The 49ers wanted Brown there and Brown decided to stay in Texas and workout at his home. Why? Because last season he felt ‘drained’ at season end and needed to create his own workout program at home.

Yeah, I know.

Anyway, Brown apparently decided to fire up his phone/laptop/tablet this morning and began to browse the social networking site where he inexplicably came across news that he just lost $2 million dollars.

Per the Sacramento Bee’s Matt Barrows:

"Tarell Brown said he learned of his $2 million loss this morning on Twitter … Called his agent immediately after and parted ways."

Ooops.
