The St. Louis Rams could have one of the most talented tight end duos in the NFL this season with free agent signee Jared Cook and Lance Kendricks, who always seems poised for a breakout year. Their tight end depth will take a hit, however, during training camp and the preseason while Kendricks continues to heal from an off-season knee scope.

According to the reports, Kendricks will miss around three weeks of action.

From the St. Louis Dispatch:

"A couple of veterans, tight end Lance Kendricks (knee) and defensive tackle Jermelle Cudjo (foot) — as well as second-year safety Matt Daniels (knee) — begin camp on the active physically unable to perform, or PUP list, as they continue their recoveries from injury.According to league and team sources, Cudjo may only miss a week or so of camp. However, Kendricks could miss a couple of preseason games, meaning it may be three weeks or so before he’s on the field."

Kendricks’ knee scope came back in April, so it is a bit puzzling to see him still working back to full health after such a minor procedure. The good news is that he will be ready for the start of the season.

Once Kendricks is ready to go, he will be slotted as the team’s No. 2 tight end behind Cook.
