When you are a team like the New York Jets that is already struggling to find a playmaker on the offensive side of the ball, it isn’t good news when one of your best weapons says that he is not sure that he will be able to play this season.

Unfortunately for the Jets, that is exactly what came out of wide receiver Santonio Holmes’ mouth.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Holmes was asked about when he could return this season and he would not give an answer. In fact, he went as far as to avoid committing to playing in 2013.

Holmes went on to say that he was not sure of any athlete that had ever come back from his type of injury and that doctors are unable to tell him when he will be able to.

When you consider that Holmes’ foot won the Pittsburgh Steelers a Super Bowl against the Arizona Cardinals, it is tough to see him still struggling to return. He has yet to resume running and cutting at full speed and it doesn’t look like he is anywhere close to doing that.

Unfortunately for the Jets, it looks like they may have to prepare for the season without any hopes or expectations of seeing Holmes on the field.
