It’s been an awful day for injuries around the league and the bad news continues with the update involving Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta. Pitta went down early in the day after a hard collision with safety James Ihedigbo. Pitta was carted off the field and now we know the extent of his injury.

From Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun:

Multiple follow up reports state that Pitta will miss the team’s season-opener against the Denver Broncos. He is expected to miss at least six weeks.

While Flacco is expected to be without his favorite target for the first game of the season, the good news is that Pitta should not be out much longer.

As Pitta recovers, Ed Dickson will be the team’s go-to player at tight end.

It is obviously not the way Baltimore wanted to start their camp, but it will give younger players a chance to prove their skill during camp.
