There are some conflicting reports concerning Chicago White Sox right fielder Alex Rios. Depending on who you ask, he may or may not have been approached by the New York Yankees before they made the move to land Alfonso Soriano.

From Joel Sherman of the New York Post:

Of course, Rios is denying those rumors publicly.

He should get his facts right because it puts me in a bad spot,” Rios said, via CSNChicago.com’s Dan Hayes. “I was never asked about that. I don’t know where he’s getting his insights.”

The 32-year-old, whether he wants to be or not, will continue to be a big trade target over the next few days leading up to the deadline. With his affordable salary, he makes perfect sense for teams looking to add a little extra pop to right field.

Two teams that have been tied to Rios during the wild flurry of trade rumors are the Texas Rangers and Pittsburgh Pirates. There are also reports that the Kansas City Royals could have interest.
