According to Mike Garafolo on Twitter, the Seattle Seahawks have claimed linebacker/defensive end O’Brien Schofield off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals.

Arizona cut ties with Schofield on Thursday after they signed veteran defensive end/linebacker John Abraham. It’s a nice landing spot for the 26 year old linebacker, considering the level that Seattle’s defense is one of the top defenses in the entire league.

Seattle is dealing with some injuries to some edge players and Bruce Irvin is facing a 4 game suspension to open up the regular season. O’Brien only has 10.5 sacks in his 3 year career, but he could pick up a handful this season with this tough Seahawks defense.

Drafted by the Cardinals in 2010 in the 44th round, #130 overall, Schofield has 83 total tackles with 3 forced fumbles. This may not be a guaranteed roster spot, but it gives himself to compete against with a group of linebackers who have a lot of potential to be pro bowlers in this league.

This is coming from a Chicago Bears fan who nearly ripped half his hair out in last years overtime loss against the Seahawks. Why did I have to remind myself of that again? I have no idea, but good pick up by the Seahawks, just hope Schofield can make the best of it.
