There haven’t been as many devastating injury reports as the Saturday brought us, but today there is another significant player that went down. Denver Broncos center Dan Koppen was carted off the field during practice what is being called a lower leg injury.

Unfortunately for the Broncos and their fans, the fear is that Koppen suffered a torn ACL and that he will be lost for the season.

The injury would obviously be crushing for the Broncos offensive line, who already lost starting center J.D. Walton earlier in the offseason after a setback with his dislocated ankle. Now that they are down Walton and Koppen, that leaves Manny Ramirez, a converted guard, handling the starting duties.

If Koppen’s injury does turn out to be as serious as the team fears, then the Broncos offensive line will need to scramble to find depth along the interior.

This is not the situation that head coach John Fox wanted to find his team in at this point of training camp, but it’s the way of the wild NFL.
