Well, I’m not quite sure what to say about Gio Gonzalez’s latest outing, as he was pulled out of the game after just pitching 3.1 innings.

Gonzalez gave up 11 hits, 10 earned runs with 2 home runs but struck out 3 batters. This was an absolute terror of an outing for Gonzalez but I’m pretty sure the Detroit Tigers are smiling after this impressive 11-1 route of the Washington Nationals.

Right handed pitcher Justin Verlander obviously picked up the win in this game, pitching 6 innings, only giving up 4 hits and 1 earned run with 6 strike outs of his own.

Tori Hunter and Avila both homered in today’s game. Avila connected on a 2 run home run off of Gonzalez in the 2nd inning, being his 8th of the season. Hunter connected with his 11th in the very same inning, a solo blast that would make it a 5-0 ball game in just the 2nd inning.

Bryce Harper left the game in the 8th inning for the Washington Nationals. No word on the reason for him leaving, as he winced on a swing 1 inning earlier and was visited by a trainer. The Nationals were getting blown out at the time, so it’s possible they were just playing things safe.

Right fielder Jayson Werth had the only RBI for the Nationals, which came in the 1st inning of the ball game. After that, it was all Detroit Tigers until the final out.
