Reports of Green Bay Packers rookie running back Eddie Lacy being overweight circulated the internet as a picture which was less than flattering floated around social media sites. None of that however has had much of an impact on Lacy.

“That’s something I don’t really worry about,” Lacy said, via the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “That’s an external factor. I learned in college to pretty much, you know, distance yourself from that.”

Lacy still is dodging questions about his weight insisting that he is “exactly where I want to be.”

The University of Alabama is about as close to an NFL team as a college can get. He’s likely used to rabid fans criticizing everything, the media maybe not so much. Lacy had an explanation.

“I’ve always been big. I’m a power back,” said the 5-foot-11 Lacy. “I get the tough yards and I’m fast enough to get around the outside and make big plays.”

Defensive end Mike Daniels provided a different perspective on the photos.

“I’ll tell you what, when defenses see him and see his tape, they say, ‘The bigger they are, the harder they’re bringing that wood when they’re coming downhill.’ They’re not looking at it laughing. They’re looking at it like, ‘Crap.’ The people who know, they’re looking at that like, ‘That boy has some weight to him. He ain’t going to go down easy.'”
