Home run leader Chris Davis adds on to his total, eclipsing the 40’s as he jacks one out of the park early in the game to help the Baltimore Orioles defeat the Seattle Mariners in an 11-8 shootout.

Davis hit a solo home run shot with two out, extending the lead to 5-0 after the Orioles had a four-run 1st inning. Raul Ibanez mishandled a sharp line drive by Adam Jones in left field, resulting in three runs for the Orioles. Jones would later score on a sacrifice fly to complete the crooked number in the inning.

Mariners’ starter Aaron Harang lost his 10th game of the season after giving up seven hits, seven runs, two home runs, two walks, and recording just one strikeout in five innings. It didn’t go much better for Orioles’ starter Chris Tillman who gave up eight hits and six runs in 5.1 innings, but he still got his 14th win of the season.

Both teams were obviously impressive with runners in scoring position tonight. The Orioles went 4-8 and the Mariners went 3-5. Nate McLouth had two hits and four RBIs, all coming off of a grand slam in the sixth inning, easily being the game’s most valuable player.
