Just a few weeks ago, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers traded defensive back Eric Wright to the San Francisco 49ers. Literally hours later, Wright was arrested for a DUI in Los Angeles and then failed his physical in San Francisco, resulting in the trade being nixed.

The Buccaneers opted to release Wright given their concerns, making him a free agent.

Wright has spent the last few weeks looking for a new team but has struggled to find much interest, but now with the 49ers secondary depleted after Chris Culliver tore his ACL yesterday afternoon, a reunion may be in the works:

Per Kevin Lynch:

"Friends of Eric Wright said he spent time with #49ers GM Trent Baalke on Thursday. Must pass physical to sign."

Assuming Wright does pass the physical, it saves the 49ers a draft pick as the originally agreed upon trade would have sent Tampa Bay a conditional late round selection in 2014.

Wright was projected to start opposite Darrelle Revis in Tampa before being released.
