According to the Arizona Republic, first year Arizona Cardinal running back and former Pittsburgh Steeler Rashard Mendenhall is battling tendinitis in his surgically-repaired knee and is going to need a couple days off.

Mendenhall won’t participate in tonight’s “Red and White” scrimmage, but could return to practice on Monday for the Cardinals.

A problem like this could linger, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Mendenhall misses more than the next couple days of practice. The Arizona Cardinals kick off their pre-season, along with the rest of the league next week against the Green Bay Packers in Green Bay.

His availability is probably in question, as the team may not be comfortable to allow him to see action in this weeks exhibition game in Green Bay. He could come back to light duty until Mendenhall and the team feel he is healthy enough to return to action.

This team will look different this season, with a new quarterback, a few new pieces on defense, the biggest being John Abraham. A man I am looking forward to watching play, is Chance Warmack. Being his first year in the league, I’m sure he will get a couple series at his position to allow him to get the feel of live NFL action against a tough Green Bay defense.
