Eric Wright not healthy enough to sign with team; San Francisco 49ers still interested
By Bryan Rose
Talk about a rough few weeks for defensive back Eric Wright.
The corner was traded from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the San Francisco 49ers, but the trade was reversed as Wright failed his physical and was arrested for a DUI.
Wanting no part of that, the Bucs immediately released Wright who looked for a job around the league. He couldn’t find one and he eventually came back to the 49ers who were interested in signing him, but after performing another physical it’s been determined that Wright simply is not healthy enough to sign an NFL contract right now.
Desperate for secondary help, the 49ers will meet with doctors this week to see what issue is causing the failed physicals for Wright:
"According to a source, cornerback Eric Wright is not healthy enough to sign. #49ers will meet with doctors next week about his status."
A signing with the 49ers seems almost inevitable (assuming they can figure out the health issue), so it’s just a matter of when this is all figured out.
