Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley is entering a contract year and is looking to cash in this offseason.  Quarterback Aaron Rodgers says he is building on the successful finish to last season.

“He’s been running his routes really well,”Rodgers said, via the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “Something clicked last year midseason … and it’s carried over this spring.

“He’s got himself in unbelievable shape, and he’s come in and been dominating out there. I’m really proud of him and the steps he’s made.”

Route running isn’t the only area he has improved, he has improved his run blocking as well.

“I don’t think people give Jermichael Finley enough credit,” said tight end and run block specialist Matthew Mulligan. “This year, what I have seen so far, he’ll get in there and mix it up with anybody.”

“Some guys make that initial block and they kind of let the defender go. Jermichael’s tenacious. He doesn’t just give in. Got good hand placement. From what I’ve seen, he is the complete package.”

The defenders are noticing as well.

“I don’t know how he played before this because last year my head was spinning,” defensive end Mike Daniels said. “But he’s definitely kicking some butt out there now. You can see it.”

“I went back and watched the tape of a (running) play from yesterday. He just annihilated somebody. He sealed off that whole side.”
