The Kansas City Star projects running back Jamaal Charles to have a drop in carries, but expect his catches to rise in Andy Reid’s pass-dominated offense.

‘The Star’ goes as far as to project Charles at “not much more than 1,000 yards” rushing, but anticipate his receptions to more than double off last years 35.

Charles is splitting out wide in training camp as well as catching screens, flat-route passes and check downs.

With a new offense like Andy Reid’s, this time will definitely improve over time. Right now the only question mark for me is their defense, how will it hold up? With new quarterback Alex Smith, it’s a huge improvement to who they have had in recent years, between Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn.

The speedy Jamaal Charles will still remain a work horse for this team, no matter how many carries or catches he may get per game.

I think this team needed Reid and Smith to be brought into the organization. Right next to the Cincinnati Bengals, this is a team I am excited to watch playing this year.
