Miami Heat legend Alonzo Mourning told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that he was “extremely excited” to work with newly signed center, former Trail Blazer Greg Oden this season.

"“Extremely excited, extremely excited, because I understand the potential he has.” Mourning on Oden."

Just like Oden, Mourning has suffered a defining knee injury when he was 37, 16 years into his NBA career. For the Heat legend, there was no come back, but for Greg Oden, there is still a good chance for him to make his mark in this league.

"“I know that if healthy, the impact that he can have on this franchise. Just him being 25 years old, I feel that the longevity of the possibility of him playing, that longevity will continue to stimulate a winning opportunity with the organization.” – Mourning"

Mourning is Miami Heat’s Vice President of Player Programs and Development and helped the team win their NBA Championship with Dwayne Wade and Shaq back in 2006.

"“I think we all, as an organization are looking forward to working with him, developing him so that he can be apart of this organization for years to come.” Mourning said once again in this interview with Sun-Sentinel"

I’m sure this is a project that Alonzo Mourning is excited to get his hands on. If Oden can soak in what Mourning teaches him, he will be an excellent center for the Miami Heat. If he can avoid being injured, again.
