It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Yes ladies and gentleman, if you haven’t been paying attention, football is back!

And according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Mark Ingram’s fantasy stock is about to rise.

According to beat writer Mike Triplett, Ingram should turn heads in Friday’s pre-season opening if he looks anywhere near as impressive as he has been throughout camp for this New Orleans Saints offense.

The young running back could possibly have a break out season if he takes advantage of the reps he gets during practice and pre-season games. The kid has what it takes to be a No. 1 back in this league, he just needs to take the opportunity and run with it, just like he does with the football. If he is able to do that, good luck stopping him.

Ingram is a very talented player and could work his way to an all around back instead of sticking with short yardage or goal line packages. Pierre Thomas, who is questionable for today’s game, was ahead of Ingram on the depth chart, but this could not help out Thomas as he aims to lock up the No. 1 half back roster spot.

Thomas has been battling with an injury for a number of days.
