The Kansas City Chiefs suffered a minor scare during Monday morning’s training camp session when star running back Jamaal Charles left the practice field on a cart with what appeared to be a leg injury.

Randy Covitz of the Kansas City Star first passed along the news. Charles was sitting in the front seat of the cart as it made it’s way back to the practice facility.

Charles was reportedly “gimpy” and “walking around gingerly” on his right leg, but none of the media that was in attendance for the practice seems to believe it is anything serious. It looks like this was just a precautionary measure, so Chiefs fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

The Chiefs and new head coach Andy Reid are planning to rely heavily on Charles in the rushing and passing game this season, so a serious injury would have been a major blow to the team.

It was just in 2011 that Charles missed the season with a torn ACL, so it is good news to see that he should be fine in a matter of days.
