San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Quinton Patton has plenty of buzz coming out of Louisiana Tech, but he has been unable to get work in throughout training camp because of an injury to his hand. According to CSN Bay Area, Patton has been hampered by a broken index finger on his left hand that has limited him to route running and individual drills.

It is an unfortunate setback for Patton, who was hoping to make an impact in his rookie season, especially with the season-ending injury to starter Michael Crabtree.

Many would have imagined that Patton could be the team’s No. 2 wide receiver with an impressive training camp and preseason, but the fractured finger has prevented him from even catching a pass throughout the workouts.

Eventually Patton will be healthy, and when that time comes he will quickly need to make up ground and show that he is capable and deserving of being a part of the team’s rotation on the outside.
