The Jacksonville Jaguars have a less glamorous quarterback competition on their hands between Chad Henne and Blaine Gabbert, aka The Real American Hero. Neither quarterback has established themselves as the favorite to win the starting job. Offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch was asked if he was disappointed that neither quarterback bad established himself and he tried to spin that.

“We look at it is if they’re continuing to improve, they’re going to continue to stay close,” Fisch said, via Florida Times Union. “If neither is improving, they’re going to continue to stay close.”

“We’re going to continue to let them keep battling it out and they both get the same amount of reps every day. It’s fun to watch.”

How can you say that watching Gabbert and Henne is fun? Obviously a coordinator just trying to say the right things. Florida Times Union summed up Monday’s practice: “Gabbert hit on 10 of 20 in the 11-on-11 drills; Henne was 11 of 16 with two fumbles.”

In last Friday’s preseason game agains the Miami Dolphins, Henne was better. He completed 8 of 11 passes for 87 yards and a 95.6 rating. Gabbert was perfectly consistent at 50% again, completeting 5 of 10 passes for 19 yards and a 16.7 rating.
