The New England Patriots gave Tim Tebow plenty of reps at quarterback during their preseason opener against the Philadelphia Eagles and it sounds as if they came away unimpressed.

Tebow, who went 4 of 12 for 55 yards and looked tentative in the pocket (he took three sacks) didn’t turn many heads and when pressed about his roster spot, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said that there’s ‘a lot of competition out there’.

Per USA Today:

"“That’s not anything that we’re ready to talk about right now,” Belichick said. “A lot of competition out there. We’ll see how it all plays out.”"

Belichick was his always gleeful self, though, for a man of so few words it is interesting he even gave a backhanded answer to the question.

It appears unlikely the Patriots have any desire to keep Tebow around as a third string quarterback, so if Tebow is to make the roster, one might assume it would be in a utility role/positional change.

He’ll certainly have to improve his play if he wants to break camp with the team.
